Community rules

Every member must treat others with respect, whatever their background, language, identity, opinions or experience.

The following are not allowed, among others:

• Harassment, intimidation and threats.
• Discriminatory or hateful remarks.
• Repeated provocation and behaviour meant to harm others.
• Persisting after another member has said no.
• Any form of pressure, intimidation or manipulation.

Respecting personal boundaries is essential, on Discord as much as in VRChat.

Members must behave respectfully in every instance and activity organized by the Refuge.

It is not allowed, among other things, to:

• Harass or deliberately follow a member who wants to be left alone.
• Use avatars, sound effects or behaviour to deliberately disrupt an instance.
• Start conflicts or disrupt community activities.
• Get around blocks, removals or restrictions set by the people in charge of an instance.
• Use features or tools to disrupt other players’ experience.

Every participant must follow the rules of the instance they are in and the instructions of the person in charge.

Consent and respect for individual boundaries are essential in our community.

Every member must:

• Respect it when someone declines an interaction.
• Ask permission before any intrusive personal interaction.
• Respect other users’ personal space and preferences.
• Stop a behaviour immediately when someone says they are uncomfortable.
• Never use VRChat to deliberately intimidate, follow or bother someone.

Nobody has to take part in an activity, a conversation or an interaction.

Avatars, worlds and content used in Refuge activities must follow VRChat’s rules and these guidelines.

The following are not allowed:

• Avatars designed to harass, intimidate or disrupt others.
• Malicious content or content meant to compromise users’ security.
• Discriminatory or hateful content.
• Unauthorized use of creations that belong to someone else.
• Inappropriate content in spaces that aren’t meant for it.

Members must also respect the rights of the creators of avatars, worlds and other digital assets.

Every member’s privacy must be respected.

It is not allowed to:

• Disclose personal information without permission.
• Post private conversations without consent.
• Share pictures, videos or recordings of someone without their permission.
• Share confidential information about a member or the team.
• Impersonate another user.

Before recording, streaming or posting an activity that involves other members, make sure you have their consent.

Never share your passwords, access tokens or login details.

Each channel has a specific purpose. Members must use it accordingly.

The following are not allowed, among others:

• Spam and repeated messages.
• Unauthorized advertising.
• Abusive mentions and harassment.
• Suspicious links, phishing attempts and scams.
• Content deliberately posted in the wrong channels.

Official communications and announcements must be respected.

Activities organized by the Refuge must take place in a spirit of respect and cooperation.

Participants must:

• Respect the organizers’ schedules and instructions.
• Follow the directions of the people running the event.
• Avoid deliberately disrupting activities.
• Respect instance capacity limits and access conditions.
• Be courteous to other participants.

Organizers may refuse access to an activity or ask a participant to leave an instance when their behaviour gets in the way of the event.

The members of the Le Refuge Zératik team are responsible for keeping the community running well.

Members must follow the reasonable instructions of the people in charge and the moderators.

It is not allowed to:

• Pretend to be a staff member.
• Misuse a role or a permission.
• Deliberately obstruct the moderation team’s work.
• Get around a sanction.
• Disclose internal information without permission.

Any complaint about a moderation decision can be sent to the management through the channels provided for that purpose.

All members must follow:

• Discord’s Terms of Service.
• Discord’s Community Guidelines.
• VRChat’s Terms of Service.
• VRChat’s safety and conduct rules.
• The applicable laws.

Le Refuge Zératik does not tolerate any illegal activity, fraud, hacking attempt, distribution of malware or attempt to compromise users’ security.

The platforms’ rules apply at all times, even when an activity is organized by the Refuge.

The moderation team may step in when a behaviour harms the safety, respect or smooth running of the community.

Depending on how serious and repeated the situation is, the following measures may be applied:

1. A verbal or written warning.
2. Removal of content.
3. Temporary restriction of some permissions.
4. Temporary removal from an activity or an instance.
5. Temporary suspension of access to the community.
6. A permanent ban from Le Refuge Zératik.

Serious violations may lead to immediate action, without a prior warning.

Sanctions can be applied on Discord as well as in the Refuge’s VRChat activities.

These rules may change as Le Refuge Zératik evolves.

Any important change will be announced through the community’s official channels.

Members are responsible for knowing the rules in force.
